Sparky was Interbreed
Champion and member of the
Interbreed Pair at last years Royal Highland.
West Cocklaw Farm is 200 acres which is run with 200 acres of rented ground.

They have around 100 pedigree Holstein Friesian milk cows with followers. There is also 250 commercial sheep which are predominately mules with some texel cross ewes which are put to the texel and suffolk tup, all the lambs are finished at home. West Cocklaw runs a flock of 70 Bluefaced Leicester ewes, each year they keep the best 30 - 40 tup lambs for shearlings which are sold at Kelso, Hexham and Carlisle, and also keep 15 - 20 of the best ewe lambs. The leicesters include blood lines from Pennine, Old Parks, Ashes, Chollerton. 25 blackies are kept to help breed a few replacements.

Matt also breeds Clydesdale Horses which he shows with success.

The Browell family have been
farming at Quarry House for
over 100 years. Quarry House
is 435 acres and is situated
11 miles northeast of Hexham.
It is run in conjunction with
600 acres of rented land at
Fell House and
Woodhall farms.

At present the farms run a 170
suckler cow herd and 35 in-calf
heifers. The farms carry
approximately 1000 Blackface
ewes, which are put to the
Bluefaced Leicester and
Blackfaced tups. 500 mules,
which are put to a Texel tup,
there are a further 400 hoggs
which are kept for replacements,
and a small flock of Bluefaced
Leicester ewes that are kept
to produce rams
for sale and for own use.
