Lanark Sale
Bluefaced Leicester champion
Champion from R Struthers,
Glenelg Greenfield Flock

Once again the Lanark trade was steady, but overall it saw lift in last years averages, although the leading prices were down. Aucioneer Andrew Barrie was happy enough with the sale, with only 15 shearlings not sold, giving around 80% clearance. Topping the trade was a shearling ram by T2 Romesbeoch and out of a ewe by a homebred sire, sold by JW Hamilton from the Kirkton Flock, Biggar and bought by Ross Taylor of Little Gill Farm, Abington for 520gns.

W Coltherd was the judge for the day and his selected champion came from R Struthers with his Z4 Shearling, out of a homebred ewe and by X6 Bank Farm. Taking this strong tup home for £450 was Elaine Wilkie, Shaw Cottage

Buyers again, as at most sales this year were very selective and only really wanting the best sheep available.
Averages- 2 shears; £245. Shearlings; £222.8 (201.36 last year). Lambs; £176.21 (£117 last year). Ewes; £350. Gimmers; £130.71.
