It was a show to remember for North Yorkshire breeders James & Diane Stenton as they took the top honours at the Yorkshire show, amid some strong classes, which the judge, John Herdman, described as one of his hardest jobs with the quality so high.
The champion from the St. Ravenscar flock was a one crop ewe is an embryo bred sheep by the N38 Hundith and out of a Salwick bred ewe. She was shown successfully as a gimmer shearling last year, and continues to get the plaudits this year too.
Pushing her all the way was a cracking yearling ewe from Alex Bisset, who stood second to the champion in the class. She is by the Clennel tup, which was also the sire of the Champion male, a tup lamb on his first outing, also from the noted Middle Dukesfield flock. This sharp tup lamb will be heading to Hexham later this back end.
