Welsh Progeny Show - Judges - D Raine, Old Parks flock

The Bluefaced Leicester Sheep Breeders Association held their Annual Progeny Show at Welshpool Auction Mart on Thursday 6th August 2009. There was a tremendous number of sheep forward in all classes.

The Overall Champion and Female Champion rosettes were awarded to S A Harding of the "SHREWBRIDGE" Flock, Shrewbridge Court, Baddington, Cheshire with their aged ewe 3114/X055 who is by 3756/W003 PLAS Y WARD E+. The ewe will be sold with her ewe lamb at foot (given as luck) at the Harding's Major Reduction Sale as part of the Association Sale at Carlisle on the 9th October.

The Reserve Overall Champion and Champion Male was awarded to Jackie Mcleod "WANSTEAD" with her Aged Ram 2832/Y008 ELIAN NIGEL E+ who is sired by 3363/X003 E+ CRAIG YR ORSEDD.

The Championship in the Progeny Section was awarded to S A Harding "SHREWBRIDGE" Flock with three outstanding ewes by 3756/W003 PLAS Y WARD E+. These will also be included in the major reduction sale at Carlisle. The reserve champion in the progeny section went to Elfyn Owen & Co "CERNYW" flock with a wonderful pen of three ewe lambs with their sire.

The Mule section which was judged by Gwyn Price who saw some strong competition in all the classes, with the champion ticket going to R G Jones & Son, Ty Mawr, with three classy gimmer lambs and sired by Barley Z1 which was classified Elite + on the day. The Reserve also went to the same exibitor with a ewe lamb.
