Some strong classes at the Yorkshire Show put judge Tudor Harris, from the Bonvilston flock, though his paces. There was strong competition especially in the female section which all had 13 entries in each class.
Taking the championship was a cracking two crop ewe from the Cocklaw flock. Nicky Robinson has been a bit under the weather with a bad foot, of late but encouragement from daughter Amy paid off, as their two crop ewe swept all in front of her in her first time in the show ring. She is by a Kemp View tup and out of a ewe that they used to show alongside Sparky, by the Cocklaw T1 tup. The Robinson's will be hoping the winning streak continues when last year's lamb heads to the Kelso tup sales this back end.
Taking the male section championship was a tup lamb from Robin Peart, Mayland, who was showing at the show for only the second time. His lamb was by a Peel View tup which he bought at Carlisle last year, after seeing it at shows last year, including at the Yorkshire, where he caught Robin's eye. The Mayland tup lamb was out of a homebred ewe by a Red Cottage tup. |
