Why use Mules?
When crossed with any ewe,
the Bluefaced Leicester
produces the famous Mule.
The majority of the crossbred
ewes in the UK are sired by
the Bluefaced Leicester.

Reasons for use:

Mule Lambs
Profitability: the Mule has an unrivalled financial output. No commercial ewe can match its profitability. It is not uncommon for Mule flocks to achieve a prime lamb crop for up to 200%. The outstanding conformation of the Mule when crossed with an terminal sire produces the ideal lamb for todays UK market.
Ease of management: the Mule lends itself well to a great variaty of extensive and intensive management systems and adapts well to all conditions. The Mule ewe's mothering ability and ease of management throughout the year is second to none. The Mule's ability to milk from day one, through to finished stage ensures an efficient grass to meat conversion.
Early maturity: it is common to breed from the Mule ewe lamb in her first year and she will normally continue to produce for at least six years.
